The exam

What SQE2 asks of you

Sixteen practical legal skills stations: twelve written and four oral, spread across five practice contexts, each marked by solicitors on skills and application of law with equal weight. Helix drills the twelve written stations.

  • Written skills: case and matter analysis, legal drafting, legal research and legal writing.
  • Practice contexts: criminal litigation, dispute resolution, property practice, wills and probate, and business organisations.
  • The four oral stations (advocacy and interviewing) are not covered yet. We would rather say so than pretend.

What Helix gives you

Built to teach it, not just test it.

AI marking in seconds

Write your answer in full, as you will on the day. It comes back marked against station-style criteria, with the points you hit and the points you missed.

Model answers that teach

Every station carries a model answer and a marking checklist, so you can see exactly what a competent answer looks like before you write your next one.

Skills times contexts, covered

Each written skill is practised in each practice context, the same grid the assessment draws from, so the format never surprises you.
